Piers Thomas - Founder
Piers Thomas has spent more than three decades working at the interface between elite sport, technical clothing and performance innovation.
His career has focused on translating athlete insight and competitive demands into engineered garment systems — improving aerodynamic efficiency, thermoregulation, mobility and reliability in high-consequence environments.
Between 2012 and 2020, he worked within the English Institute of Sport, developing athlete–equipment interfaces across multiple Olympic and Paralympic programmes. During this period, supported programmes delivered over 200 Olympic medals, including more than 30 Gold.
In professional cycling, he was embedded with Team Sky in partnership with Rapha, contributing to aerodynamic garment development, textile research and wind tunnel testing initiatives. He later led technical clothing transition and supplier evaluation for INEOS Grenadiers.
In Olympic sailing, he led clothing performance strategy for the Swedish Olympic Sailing Team ahead of the Paris 2024 Games — selecting, adapting and customising sponsor-supplied apparel, and designing and producing bespoke performance garments.
His work has also extended to international cricket, designing bespoke performance glove systems for the England Cricket Board.
Elite Textile Interface builds on this experience by bringing together aerodynamic specialists, textile scientists and experienced garment manufacturers — forming a dedicated technical team that translates performance insight into validated, production-ready systems.
